Concrete Express, Inc. (CEI) is a Colorado based civil constructor headquarted at historic Mile High Station, in the heart of Denver. For more than 28 years, CEI has undertaken complicated projects, requiring innovation and creative thinking and has a strong background of delivering on-time and under budget projects.
CEI regularly self-performs between 65 percent and 85 percent of its work and has developed a wide range of supporting subcontractors. In addition, CEI is fully familiar with local agency codes, specifications, and standards. CEI always constructs with efficiency, sustainability and safety; understanding that getting the job done right the first time takes experience and integrity.
CEI constructed the City of Fort Collins first Bus Rapid Transit system, known as the Mason Express, or MAX BRT. CEI built the bus BRT Lane, retaining walls, bridge, and bus shelters. MAX now operates within a dedicated guideway next to the BNSF railroad tracks between the new South Transit Center, just south of Harmony Road, and Horsetooth Road. North of University, MAX buses share the roadway, traveling along Mason Street through Downtown. The construction project also included the completion of 12 MAX stations along with additional elements to support MAX operations including: the new South Transit Center, Troutman underpass, and Spring Creek Station overpass. CEI worked on the entire corridor simultaneously in an effort to expedite construction and decrease the duration of impacts to the public.
CEI teamed with Muller Engineering on this Design-Build project that involved the reconstruction of approximately two miles of two-lane urban arterial roadway. The project included: removal of the existing roadway and construction of a three-lane roadway with curb and gutter, 10 foot shared-use trail, and on-street bike lanes. The project also included a modern roundabout, a signalized intersection, and a pedestrian hybrid (HAWK) signal.
